Suminagashi, as known as "Japanese marbling" is an ancient Japanese transfer technique, in which dye is dropped into water in a tank, and the freely spreading shape is transferred onto the fabric as it is, thus creating the pattern.
In a workshop in Kyoto, craftsmen create each piece of cloth one by one in a smooth process. No two patterns are the same.
