A snow parka featuring patch-style sashiko made from KUON’s archive fabrics on the front, and Hymon (ice-crack) patterned yose-moyō sashiko on the sleeves. The Hymon pattern is a traditional Japanese motif based on the irregular lines seen when ice cracks. Also called the Kōriwari pattern, it represents the arrival of spring when the ice begins to break.
The cuffs have elastic, and the hood opening, waist, and hem include drawcords, allowing you to enjoy adjustable silhouettes. The garment is finished with a product-washed treatment.

Fabric

For the warp yarns, we use a black sulfur dye with a hint of blue to prevent them from fading into a reddish-black, and rope-dyeing is performed four times to achieve a deeper, richer black. The weft yarns are skein-dyed, ensuring they are dyed all the way to the core so they age and fade gracefully alongside the warp yarns without discoloration.
