The Enshu region of Japan has long been home to highly skilled artisans and is well-known as one the leading producers of cotton textiles. KUON works with a very special 150 year old atelier where all processes from yarn dyeing to weaving take place in an integrated manner. The yarns are carefully dyed by hand (usually with indigo) to maximize their color and texture. The more the fabric is washed, the more the texture becomes richer and deeper. Sashiko-ori(weave) fabric uses threads of different thicknesses to reproduce a Sashiko-like pattern.
