At this time of year, there is a custom in Japan called "Oseibo (お歳暮)" in which gifts are given to those who have taken care of us at the end of the year as a token of our gratitude. The custom originated in the Muromachi period (1336 - 1573), and it is believed that food is the preferred gift.
There is also another custom of giving gifts at Christmas. This is a relatively new custom that began in the Meiji period (1868 - 1912) when Western culture was first introduced to Japan. This is a very Japanese cultural mix, which is similar to KUON, "valuing the tradition while incorporating the new at the same time".
In addition to them, recently, some people purchase expensive or desired items as a reward for their hard work over the year in this end of the year season.

New feature
A Boro braided cord that can be used as a wallet cord is attached. The cord is made by having Boro scraps hand-braided one by one by Otsuchi Sashiko.
It can be used as a wallet cord as well as a neck strap. This new feature is perfect for compact wallets.

Personally, I prefer the neck strap style. It's a great accessory, and it's extremely convenient because I don't have to reach into my pocket or bag to pick up my wallet.
