Finally I can announce an upcoming event that I have been wanted to make it happen!
Sadamasa Imai Ceramic Art Exhibition
We are going to hold a collaborated exhibition with a ceramic artist, Sadamasa Imai at KUON Flagship Store! First of all, here is the most important information.
Venue: KUON Flagship Store
Dates: Sat. Feb. 8, - Mon. Feb 24, 2025
*The artist will be at the venue on Feb 8 and 24.
*Opening event "Ceramic Art x Fashion x Sake" will be held on the first day, Feb. 8.
In addition to collaborated works, the artist's signature works will be exhibited. Mr. Imai and I prepared an event for the first day as a form of opening party.
About a ceramic artist, Sadamasa Imai

Ceramic artist Sadamasa Imai was born into a family of three generations of ceramic artists, his grandfather and father. He grew up surrounded by ceramics and art, and from a very young age, he had his clay kneaded and fired in a kiln.
Imai is also a potter who is not bound by tradition, but is always willing to take on new challenges. Recently, he participated in the “Pokemon x Crafts” exhibition at the Azabudai Hills gallery.
I snapped a lot of Pokémon since photography is allowed at the exhibition, but please visit the exhibition, which will be open until February 9, and take a look at them in person. There are enough Pokémon to see from the early Pokémon to the latest Pokémon.
Stories behind the exhibition
How did Mr. Imai, who has held ceramic exhibitions at various galleries, come to exhibit his work at the KUON Flagship Store?
Mr. Imai, who is also a collector of old indigo-dyed fabrics and Boro, became interested in KUON's Boro jackets. After he visited our store, we became good friends. He bought a vintage Boro jacket from us, saying he wanted to wear it at his exhibitions.

He also said he needed short sleeves for summer exhibitions, so he ordered a Boro short-sleeved shirt (I envy him!). While talking about the shirt, I asked him to do something together in our store. He replied, “That sounds like fun!” and the conversation grew. Finally, the day is coming right there!
Imai's works especially for this event
In addition to Imai's powerful works, he has prepared several collaborative pieces for this exhibition.
The first one is,
[Boro crab-襤褸蟹-]
JPY495,000-(incl. tax)
BORO symbolizes KUON and crab symbolizes Mr. Imai.
Why “crab”? Mr. Imai will be at the gallery on February 8 (Sat.) and 24 (Mon.) during the exhibition period, so let's ask him.
The second one is,
[Boro Sakazuki(Sake cup)]
JPY27,500-(incl. tax)
Since many of us, including myself and our good customers, love to drink, so I asked Imai to prepare Sakazuki(sake cups). Each one with a different design and shape, just like Boro.
The last one is,
[Boro Beer cup]
JPY33,000-(incl. tax)
I asked him to produce this one from my personal desire, and he was willing to produce only one piece. I will be purchasing it on the last day of the exhibition, so if you are interested, please don't forget to come early.
These collaborative works are unique to KUON in Mr. Imai's opinion. Please come and check them during the exhibition period!
About opening party
To cerebrate this exhibition, the long-established Kameya Sake Shop in Asakusa will be come to the venue on February 8 (Sat.), the first day of the exhibition. On the day, the fourth-generation owner of Kameya Sake Shop will close his store in Asakusa and come to the venue to serve special drinks!
You can enjoy craft beer and sake selected by the fourth generation owner of Kameya Sake Shop to match the image of Imai's works. In addition, we will have a number of snacks made with smoked "Narazuke" Japanese pickles produced by a sake brewery in Nara Prefecture.

You can drink with the Boro sake cups if you purchase one! Of course, we welcome people who just want to check the Spring/Summer 2025 collection just launched, or just come to have a drink.
