One Stitch One Hope Projects

One Stitch One Hope Projects

As KUON’s philosophy, we address social agenda via fashion business.
We have two actions at the moment: we partner with « Otsuchi Sashiko Project » in Iwate Prefecture, to engage in recovery of the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, and we also work with Sakkora Japan, an organization that provides support to individuals with disabilities in Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture.
These projects are not 100% run by KUON. There were originally projects based in each area and we found possibilities in them and established these new projects.
We are using the word « aid » for convenience, but we don’t take this as « aid ».
These projects are absolutely necessary to KUON and the base of our creativity.
Aid usually means one-sided, however, in order to make projects feasible and sustainable, we believe that it has to be mutually beneficial.
The mothers in Otsuchi City are now grown up to be wonderful Sashiko artisans. The young people in Morioka City get offer from some famous-name brands. They are all our very precious business partners.
From June 2016 to July 2017, we have payed them ¥729.629. (¥362.109 for last year)
We understand that there are pros and cons for bringing politics and social agendas into fashion, but we believe that fashion has such a big power to brighten up the world.
We always look for other possible ways to get the most of the positive power of fashion.
