Hi it's Shohei.
The items introduced today are neither Boro, Sashiko, nor Sakiori, but they represent KUON aesthetic. I believe this is a design that represents this season's KUON. It is a very interesting and exciting attempt to express "Kintsugi", which has been handed down from the people of the past to the present day, in clothing.
From the "Kintsugi" series, I would like to introduce a long-sleeved shirt and a T-shirt.

As the name says, it is inspired by "Kintsugi", a repairing technic of ceramic and lacquer wares.
Kintsugi (金継ぎ, "golden joinery"), also known as kintsukuroi (金繕い, "golden repair"), is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum; the method is similar to the maki-e technique. As a philosophy, it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise.

KUON's concept of "beautiful things" means not only superficial beauty but also inner beauty. Of course, techniques such as Boro, Sashiko, and Sakiori are beautiful in themselves, but we also believe that the spirit of the Japanese people who created them is also "beautiful". This season, we express our respect for the spirit of Wabi-Sabi and the Japanese traditional aesthetics through Kintsugi.
The elegant dense fabric is decorated with satin, which has a strong luster among satin fabrics, so that even a single point on the hem has a strong presence. It is also arranged asymmetrically to express Wabi-Sabi aesthetic.
Two different fabrics are used to express kintsugi. It is interesting to see the contrast between "roughness" and "beauty" created by raw-edged cotton fabric and satin fabric.

The idea is applied on this T-shirt, too. The fabric of the T-shirt is a bit glossier than the fabric used in the past KUON collections, as it is made with high-gauge yarn.

I think this one is more mature than the last one due to the color.
