This is my first blog in a month and a half since the days of Mr. Todo's installation, KUON Summer Festival, pop-up store in Isetan Shinjuku Men's and other furious activities...
I'm sure many things have happened to you in this year, which is already in the later half. I've heard a lot of big news of our customers in the store such as going to be married, having a baby and moving to foreign country...
Every time I hear these kind of news I'm reminded of the passage of time by changes of our environment, decisions they have made, and new challenges they have taken on.
Today, I would like to share my personal biggest news of the first half of 2023.
The first time in 10 years
It could be the biggest one in my life.

I bought shorts for the first time in 10 years! For me, this is so big even though it sounds small for you...
Last time I bought was swim shorts for going to the river for BBQ. So, it means this is my first experience to buy shorts for my daily wear... (I guess my parents bought me shorts when I was a kid though.)
I have been involved in fashion business for more than 10 years, but I would never worn shorts, and I had prejudiced that they had nothing to do with me.
But now I can tell you how good they are. It is extreme, but now I wear only shorts.
WHY I bought shorts
Because it's so hot this summer? I just liked the design? Tired to wear full length pants? Impulsively? Just because?
Maybe all.
Plus, I guess I was inspired by foreign travelers who wore shorts nicely whom I saw them when I visited the Tokyo Disneyland for my off.
Before the pandemic, when I saw travelers from overseas, I didn't feel anything in particular. But now, they made me to feel like "Things are returning to the normal.", and made me happy.
As Nick Wooster mentioned in the recent interview, looking at people are inspiring and interesting.
I thought that shorts were supposed to be matched with long sleeved tops before I bought ones because of my prejudice that matching short sleeved tops with shorts could be too childish…
However, I found that it’s not so bad to match short sleeved tops with shorts! It presents relaxed atmosphere which I like.
I also feel that I can enjoy and challenge fashion in every detail more than with full-length pants, such as adding accessories and paying attention to shoes and socks.
I used to have a rigid idea that I would never wear shorts, but when I tried them on, I thought they were really good, and by wearing shorts, I was able to have more choices and think, "I want leather dress shoes," which I normally don't wear.
I have overcome my aversion to wearing shorts, and recently I've been wearing shorts almost everyday. They're comfortable in the hot summer, and most importantly, they're easy.
There may be various reasons for not wanting to wear shorts, but once you put them on, it doesn't matter anymore.
There are so many varieties of shorts in KUON store now. I don't want to push you to buy one, but I would recommend you to try them on. You'll revisit the fun of fashion for sure.
