FALL/WINTER 2020 -NYFW PRESENTATION-
William Adams -A samurai with blue eyes-
This collection was inspired by "What would an Englishman wear living in Japan during the Edo period?" Based on the designer, Ishibashi’s discovery of an Englishman, William Adams (AKA Anjin Miura) who settled in Japan during the Edo period (1603 – 1868). However, as Ishibashi was not able to find any visuals of what William Adams may have worn during that time, he imagined a collection based on British tailoring/patterns from that period while incorporating traditional Japanese technics and textiles such as indigo dye, Sashiko, Boro and Sakiori.
